📖 Instructions for use and usage

What is the difference between portable and stationary oxygen concentrators?

Portable devices: Small, lightweight and battery-powered, ideal for travel.

Stationary devices: Larger, with higher oxygen flow, recommended for longer use at home.

What is the difference between continuous and pulsed flow?

Pulse Flow: Automatically detects your breathing and delivers oxygen when you inhale, stopping when you exhale.

Continuous flow: Delivers oxygen continuously, regardless of whether you inhale or exhale.

Pulse flow mode is used primarily in portable devices to extend operating time.

What should you remember when using an oxygen concentrator?

Do not use the oxygen generator near an open flame or while smoking.

Monitor your oxygen concentration and check your device regularly to make sure no alarms are going off and that you are getting enough oxygen.

Too low an oxygen concentration will impair inhalation and shorten the life of the device.

If you use an oxygen concentrator for chronic health problems, continuously monitor changes in your blood oxygen levels.

Are oxygen concentrators very noisy?

The operating noise level is a really important factor for our users. Modern oxygen concentrators, especially home models, are designed with quiet operation in mind.

The noise level of typical household appliances is usually between 40 and 50 decibels (dB). This roughly corresponds to:

Quiet library (approx. 40 dB)

Normal conversation indoors (approx. 50 dB)

Note: The volume varies depending on the oxygen flow rate. At higher flow rates, the operating noise may increase slightly. We recommend placing the device on a flat, stable surface and maintaining a certain distance to get the most accurate perception of the noise level.

Under what circumstances will the alarm be triggered?

If the oxygen concentrator malfunctions, an alarm will sound and the following error code will be displayed:

F0001: Low battery alarm.

F0002: No breathing detected.

F0011: High temperature alarm.

F0012: Oxygen sensor abnormal reading alarm.

Do I need a prescription for the VARON oxygen concentrator?

No, it can be purchased without a prescription. However, it is recommended to consult a doctor to ensure that the device meets your health requirements. Our team is always available to provide you with individual product advice.

Can I travel by plane with a portable oxygen concentrator?

Thank you for your important inquiry. Our portable oxygen concentrators are designed for use at home and on the go, but are not approved for use on board aircraft.

Carrying them on board requires special approval from the airline (e.g. FAA), which our devices do not currently have. Please always check with your airline before traveling to see which devices are allowed on board. We recommend our concentrators for trips, car trips, or for general use at home.

Are the portable hub batteries rechargeable?

Yes, they can be charged using a mains cable, in a car using a DC cable or, depending on the model, with an external charger. The average charging time is 4 to 5 hours.

What is the function of atomization?

It promotes effective absorption of small particles into the respiratory tract with fewer side effects.

Is the VARON oxygen concentrator compatible with in-vehicle charging?

Yes, it supports 100-240V (AC) and 12-16.8V (DC) power, so it can be used worldwide and charged in a vehicle.

Do I need to add water to the device?

The answer varies depending on your device:

If your device has a humidifier tank: Then yes. Fill it only to the line with distilled water to humidify the oxygen.

If you do not have a separate water tank: Then no. Your device is designed to run dry.

You can find your device type and the exact procedure in the enclosed operating instructions.

Is the battery replaceable? How do I do that?

Yes, this is possible for models VP1, VP2, VP6, VL1 and VL2. For safe and correct replacement, it is best to follow the illustrated instructions in the user manual.

For your safety and the safety of your device: Please do not open the cover yourself. If you are unsure or cannot find the instructions, please contact us directly by email or via our live chat - we will be happy to guide you step by step!

🛠️ Maintenance and cleaning

How should I maintain my oxygen concentrator?

Clean the cover regularly.

Clean the nasal cannula at least once a week.

Clean the air filter once a month.

How do I clean the cover of my oxygen concentrator?

Switch off the device and unplug it from the power outlet. Wipe the housing with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, abrasives or solvents.

How should I store the device if I am not using it for a long time?

Turn it off, empty and dry the humidifier tank completely. Store the device in a cool, dry and dust-free place. It is recommended to unplug it from the mains.

How do I clean and disinfect the humidifier tank?

Regular maintenance of the humidifier tank is essential for hygienic oxygen enrichment. Proceed as follows:

1. Daily basic maintenance:

Change the water in the humidifier daily.

2. Weekly cleaning:

Rinse the tank weekly with warm water and a small amount of mild dishwashing detergent.

Rinse it thoroughly with clean water.

Allow it to air dry completely before using again.

3. Regular disinfection (every 3–7 days):

You can use one of the following methods for disinfection (please choose only one): Vinegar solution: Let a mixture of 40 ml of regular vinegar and water sit for 30 minutes. Alcohol: Use 75% alcohol for 30 minutes. Chlorine-based disinfectant: Use a solution containing 500 mg/l chlorine for 30 minutes.
After each disinfection: Rinse the container thoroughly with clean running water to remove all residue and allow it to air dry completely.

How should I care for my nasal oxygen cannula and how should I replace it?

To ensure you can always breathe hygienically, we recommend the following care procedure:

1. Cleaning after use:

After each use, rinse the nasal cannula briefly with clean water.

2. Regular replacement for optimal hygiene:

Even with the best care, the material will wear out. Therefore, it is recommended to replace:

Standard: With regular use at least every 2 months.

For less frequent use: At least every 3-6 months.

Important for your health: Disposable PVC nasal cannulas are not intended for reuse.

What is the purpose of the air filter in an oxygen concentrator?

The air filter (also called a pre-filter) is a key component: It protects the inside of your oxygen concentrator by filtering dust, dirt, mold spores, and other fine particles from the air it draws in. This ensures that only clean air is used to produce oxygen.

Maintenance recommendations: To ensure optimal performance and long life of your device, this filter should be cleaned regularly. We recommend cleaning it at least once a month.

Procedure:

Removing the filter:

Always switch off and unplug the appliance. Carefully remove the filter – usually located on the back or side of the housing.

Filter cleaning:

Gently shake off any loose dust. Then rinse the filter under lukewarm running water.

Important: Do not use soap, harsh detergents or chemicals as they may damage the filter material.

Dry thoroughly:

Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinserting it into the unit. Any residual moisture could lead to mold growth inside the unit.

Summary: Monthly cleaning according to this schedule maintains your concentrator's performance and prevents costly repairs.

How long does a cotton filter last and how do I replace it?

Non-washable: This type of filter cannot be cleaned and must not be washed with water.

Standard service life: The filter must be replaced after 100-200 operating hours.

Special case: If the filter is visibly dirty or clogged before this time has elapsed, it must be replaced immediately.
